From waste crime to serious fires, the recycling and waste treatment industry faces a number of critical challenges that require society-wide solutions. As the leading trade association for the sector, the Environmental Services Association is tackling these issues head-on and has created a range of public-facing, open-source, campaigns for all to use.

Take Charge
Zombie batteries (batteries which have been thrown away with other waste materials) are wreaking havoc. Take Charge raises public awareness of the fire risks posed by these batteries. Click here to access materials to download and use for free.
Plastic Recycling Facts
Recycling plastic is vital to a circular economy but it often gets a bad rap in the media. To support consumers and help them confidently recycle plastics, the ESA and British Plastics Federation produced the Plastic Recycling Facts campaign.
Don't cause a Bincident
Warmer summer weather brings increased risk of waste fires, which are often started by carelessly-discarded flammable items. The ESA's "Don't cause a Bincident" social media campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers. Download materials here.
Right Waste, Right Place
Waste crime costs the UK £1 billion every year. Stopping criminals accessing waste is the best way to stop it. The RWRP campaign educates waste producers about their legal duty of care for disposing of waste responsibly. Visit the campaign website.
Situational Awareness
This ESA campaign provides Health & Safety training assets (videos, posters and Huddle Cards) to address a range of common situational risks likely to occur across the recycling and waste treatment industry.
