And let’s be honest, in our personal lives, this is actually quite funny. We all have a family member that has an iPhone home screen with a million notifications, and it’s likely been the butt of many jokes.

But, in the working world, the repercussions of this are larger than one might expect. It’s one thing to not have read the 5th promotional email you’ve received about this year’s best running shoes, but it’s quite another to have work emails (and the important files included with them) getting lost in the daily shuffle. Habits such as these weaken productivity and ultimately have a hidden cost.
