Portals are like a customizable homepage for your assets and are the best way for admins to curate specific asset experiences for any use case or stakeholder. Building Portals is incredibly easy and requires no technical prowess; the simple UI makes it easy for anybody to create valuable curated content experiences in just a few minutes with a click-and-drag interface.
Brandfolder now auto-thumbnails ZIP and Sketch files upon upload. If the ZIP/Sketch file contains images, we will find them and use up to 4 to create a collage for the thumbnail. Auto thumbnailing helps keep your Brandfolder beautifully visual, while enabling quicker discovery of assets for your DAM users.
Brandfolder is now more global ready than ever! Editable users (collaborators, admins, and owners) can now easily add and edit asset names, descriptions, tags, and custom fields in multiple languages. Consumers of a Brandfolder (i.e. guest and non-users) can then read asset details in their preferred language with a toggle in their View Options.
Available languages are configured in the admin settings. Then asset details in multiple languages can be edited at the individual asset level, to many assets at once with the bulk toolbar, or in batch mode with CSV Metasheets.
We’ve made our Webhooks more robust with improved documentation for our API users. Webhooks enable monitoring your Brandfolder for change events such as creation of new assets, edits of existing assets, and deletion of assets. Webhooks can be used to seamlessly keep your other systems that are integrated with Brandfolder updated and in sync.
Brandfolder now allows non-designers to convert asset colors from CMYK to RGB and vice versa. The CMYK <> RGB feature helps eliminate asset requests for your designers. It also improves productivity for all users by not having to wait on a designer to download an asset, convert to a different color profile in complicated software, and reupload the asset for specific channel color specifications.
With our new FTP Ingest workflow, users are able to quickly ingest large file sizes, and large quantities, from an FTP server directly into Brandfolder.
Admins can set up FTP connections from the bulk management section of a Brandfolder, and then set up rules to automate the flow of where assets should be placed upon ingestion – like Brandfolders, Collections, and Sections.
This workflow helps speed up and automate the ingestion process. For example, a photographer can shoot images and automatically upload assets from their camera, to Brandfolder, on the fly.
With the Request Download feature, admins can create share links where downloading assets is disallowed until the user requests access.
When Request Download is required, users are prompted to fill out a form, and the form then notifies the admin to the download request. Admins can either approve or deny the asset download request with reasoning as to why.
This new Request Download workflow helps automate the process of approvals and ensures all assets being downloaded are not only approved, but also on-brand.
With the new Metadata Conversions feature, admins can set up rules to convert embedded and extracted metadata fields into Custom Fields or auto-tags. This helps automate the searchability of metadata and optimizes the ongoing management of your Brandfolder over time. These conversions apply to not only existing assets, but can also be retroactively applied.
Previously known as My Favorites, individual users can now gather groups of assets into Asset Boards, otherwise known as “My Boards.” Boards allow for efficient organizing and super quick access to favorited assets from different Organizations, Brandfolders, and Collections.
Select the desired assets, click ‘Add to: My Boards’ within the bulk action bar, and locate those assets within the profile section of your Brandfolder.
Users can now toggle between different view options for how they want assets to be displayed within a Brandfolder. View options are, also, unique to the individual, as well as different Brandfolders and Collections.

With contact sheets, users can now preview multiple assets in a clean layout view before printing. Contact sheets are a common need for photographers or editors trying to easily print multiple assets, while stripping away away extra headings, text, and unnecessary shading.
Now, Brandfolder admins with a lot of custom fields can select up to 5 to be prioritized or highlighted for their users in the bulk management section of Brandfolder.
Prioritized custom fields are displayed at the top of all custom fields listed for an asset within its modal, as well as on the thumbnail version if selected “show custom fields” in our new “View Options” button.
Now, admins and collaborators can improve their efficiency by collaborating on assets directly within the Brandfolder platform. Instead of manually switching between tools, comment and annotate on the asset itself to save time.

We’re working on making Brandfolder more accessible to our international users, so we’ve provided a translation tool for the platform. From the footer you can now switch to other popular languages like Chinese, French, and Spanish. More to be added over time!
Tagging has never been smarter - Brandfolder’s machine learning now suggests tags for your assets based on other assets in your Brandfolder, as well as your tagging habits. Navigate to the asset modal ‘Edit’ tab to see it in action. The machine learning accuracy that drives this will continue to improve over time.
Now you can see, download or revert to previous versions of an attachment. From the asset “Usage” tab users now have robust oversight into all the changes made to attachments, ensuring content is never lost.
Users who have downloaded assets with an expiration date will receive notifications that the assets will be expiring soon.
From the asset’s “Edit” tab you can drag and drop a file (or browse for one) to replace the attachment. Previous versions of your attachments will remain stored in the “Version History” under “Status.”

Brandfolder will extract text from images as well as text from pdf, office, and dozens of other file types. The extracted text is included in all search queries so your users can find content without any manual tagging.
Edit images and text within ad creative, sales collateral, brochures, business cards and more, and share them directly from the Brandfolder platform. By exporting InDesign files as templates, you can designate which content is editable within Brandfolder. This enables your sales team, marketing team, or any other non-designers to use them on the fly.
